30th of April 2018 – Santa Croce / Križ – Kresovanje
The active people of the village community make a bonfire in front of which is celebrated with home-made food by everyone, no one is excluded.
This ritual dates back to Celtic times, to the Feast of Beltane in honor of Bel, god of light: the fires celebrated the passage between the first and second half of the year, the brightest one.
The rite has assumed different connotations, propitiatory, religious and even resistance to “barbaric invasions. This event includes among other things the need of small communities to communicate in case of danger or need for help, through fire pyre that once lit. It was impossible to stop. The pyres were once located at the highest points of the villages, everyone had one.
